I want to see the Paladin back. I want to be able to left click and slaughter things.

f*** micro.

This too.

Zealot was my first character and I wish I could play him in Hell Mode.

For this post i feel like we need a caster that can cast nova.
element doesn't matter, as long as there are 2 to max vs the "immune to __" monsters in hell.

My biggest fear for D3.

Monsters with immunity sucked. Always seemed to be a thorns aura monster with my melees, then some elemental immunities with casters.

Immunities are awesome. And it's very likely they'll have them again, to promote group play.

And I say that after going through all of act3 hell on my light sorc recently... every area had lightning immune for majority (90%) of monsters.

Heres an actual prediction:

I think we'll see 2 D2 classes, 2 New classes and 1 D1 class.

A D1 class?

The Rogue.

Rogues would combine the ranged skills of the amazons with the trapping skills of the assasin, effectively combining the two classes while drawing on the lore base.

I think the new class will fill the offensive caster role, hopefully with a little twist. I'd love to see a battlemage.

And finally, I think, given my prior predictions to be true, the returning class would be a re imagining of the Paladin.

I agree with the roles word for word, however, isnt an "offensive caster" by definition a sorceror/ess. Of course the character will get a twist, but that would make it just about as different from the current sorceress as this "reimagined Paladin" is different from the Paladin...

In other words 3 D2 classes, 1 D1 class, 1 new class

And the 1 new class is the witch doctor?

No I think it's closed minded to concider a sorcer(er/ess) the only option for an offensive caster.

But is not the sorceress the same class as the wizard from D1?

Here's my thoughts:

Rogue/Hunter - Combines Bow Tree, Traps Tree and mixes the Passives from both Amazon/Assassin into a third tree. Plays kind of like a hunter in WoW only actually lets you melee when they get close.

Magician/Conjuror (Golemancer, Elemental Druid and Sorc) - It's a staple Diablo thing.. you need some character with Fire Wall at a minimum.. it's a defining spell for the series (imo). There should be an Elemental Tree (like summoning different kinds of Elementals), Natural Tree (Cold, Lightning) and Conjuring Tree (Fire, Rock). They would need casting times for all AoE spells, like Meteor or Molten Boulder sort of thing, so the Elementals would be there to buy them time to do so. Elementals would come in Minor and Major forms and would enhance spells of their type when nearby.

Templar/Martial Artist (Paladin/Monk/Assassin hybrid) - Seems like something that would work. Uses fists and holy powers. Trees would be Martial Arts (with Combo skills and finishing moves, and a couple general use skills like Flying Kick, Backflip, etc..), Holy Tree (Lay on Hands, Holy Damage spells/melee passives, Healing Spells etc..), Aura Tree (takes out all the useless Auras of current Paladin and puts them in one tree). Would be very fast, jumping and flying around all over the place. Takes a lot of skill to use properly.

we're kind of getting the right ideas here I guess

If anything, they will be merging a lot...

And Tals, I didnt mean to say that sorc is the only option, but as squallish pointed out, people want some character spells such as fire wall, which means that at least one and probably 2 trees are gonna be sorc style...(which is almost the same as saying that the sorc gets a new twist...)

You could easily slide things like wall of flames in say, the druid elemental tree. Who knows, the witchdoctor might get it.
