Over the past 3 years I've been filling in questionnaires for a research centre. As a reward, I built credit, which has accumulated to a total of round $60 now. Time to spend it!

One of the ways I can receive the money is through gift vouchers of a dutch webshop, very much like Amazon. The question is now: what to buy?

I've found 3 games that I'd like to have, for $10 each, but that leaves me with $30 to spend. Some games are overpriced in their store and I won't buy them with these vouchers. So...tell me, what should I get?

Already planned:
Kotor II: Sith Lords
Assasin's Creed
GTA: San Andreas

Overpriced/Unavailable:
Team Fortress II
Machinarium
Plants vs Zombies
Portal
World of Goo
Psychonauts
Stalker
Nethack
EV Nova
System Shock
The Witcher
Kohan and Kohan
Deus Ex

Already Owned:
Prince of Persia (Sans of Time, Warrior Within, 3rd)
Hitman (All)
Splinter Cell (All)
Half Life 1 and 2
RTCW
Max Payne

Mass Effect 2 is available, but I never played Mass Effect 1  dry

Portal 2
Worms Reloaded
Starcraft 2  <-- you should try it, it is purty gud  Tongue

Half Life 2 ad Prince of Persia I already own
Plants vs Zombies is not available (and I've played plenty, I'd buy it to archive it)

Will look into the rest

Stalker and Psychonauts are not available. Mass Effect 2 is, but 1 isn't. I haven't played 1, so I'd look into getting hold of that first.

@ Monkey: SCII is a definite buy, Portal II as well, but not that urgent, I'd probably wait a bit for the price to drop (as I do with most games)

keep them coming!  happy

Well, this depends entirely on how complete this webshop's collection is, but...

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Baal <- best RPG series ever made. Seriously.

Kohan and Kohan: Ahriman's Gift <- incredibly fun series of strategy games that are not very well known

The Witcher

Also, if you have a playstation 2, I highly, highly, highly, highly recommend the Shin Megami Tensei series, particularly Persona 3: FES and Persona 4.

These are all older games that will be fairly cheap if you find them, and should work on even low-end computers.

Mass effect 1/2 (I personally far preferr the first)

Saints row 2 (You can sink an entire summer into this game and not be bored; trust me.)

TF2 (Just wait for another 10 dollar deal or something; I got my copy for 2.50 )

EV Nova (fun as balls, tons of replay value)

NetHack

System Shock 2 (Greatest game of all time)

System Shock 1 (if you're masochistic)

Deus Ex

They're primarily a bookstore, but they have quite a lot of games, problem is that the selection they made is rather random...

I played Baldur's Gate 1 back in the days (when you still had to swap CD's to walk from 1 town to another) and never really got into it. Should I still try BG 2 someday? (not now, it is heavily overpriced in that webshop)

Nethack, EV Nova, System Shock, The Witcher and Kohan are unavailable
Deus Ex for Playstation only

No consoles for me. My sister has a Wii. Forced my mum to get her Mario Kart for Christmas 2 years ago. My sister wanted another game (Rayman's TV party or smth), but I said this one was better. She was mad as hell (as only my sister can be). Couple of hours later she decided to try the game anyway and she's pretty much an addict now  happy

Saint's Row 2 is available! And yeah, I'd love to get TF2, but I'm not paying $35 with shopvouchers, if Steam has it for $20 and you say I can get it for $2.50 too...

Actually, NetHack is a free game with actually no graphics at all. Do a google search and try it. :)

Kohan was such a great game. I think there's a Kohan 2 aswell but both are not well known.

I'd try to search for Grim Fandango but it's an old game so I don't think it'll be available. Bioshock is also an alternative. Secret of Monkey Island, maybe?

Just to clarify about the deals moons is talking about, the $2.50 happens pretty rarely.  I can think of it happening twice (though I might have missed one) and one time it lasted less than a day.  The $10 happens more frequently and one always happens during a major update.  I'll try and let you know when it happens again wub, just remember to stab Kaye- biggrin.

Hey; System shock and I think deus ex you can get for free; system shock 2/1 I'm sure of it, it's abandonware.  Look on Rapidshare (use 4chan's rapidsearch, that's where I always grab it from.)

SS2 just blows away even the most modern horror FPS games, and if you thought bioshock was good, you'll see just how much it's a cheap mockup of the original masterpiece.  (SS2 can be blocky and pixilated, and still have more atmosphere than a game needing a pair of high end GPU's to render does)

Yeah please :D

Also: on the topic of abandonware: I believe Warlord's Battlecry is abandonware, if any of you guys get bored, try it out. It's a really cool RPG/RTS game, much like Warcraft III, except your hero stays with you throughout every map (yes, this does get OP after a while...)
Game is loosely based on Warhammer (apparently, my friend who plays Warhammer said so) but is in no way a warhammer game.

I busted out FFT the other day.  It's the first time I've played it since I was 10 or 12 or something.  And holy s**** I never realized it was this good.  A Squaresoft game with believable politics?  I didn't think such things existed (well, 12 counts I guess!.

well, mass effect 2 is the best game of all time, so I'd go with that.  Although it might only be the 2nd or 3rd best game if you havnt played the first one.

ME2 story pales compared to the first I believe, but ME2's combat doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out. Practically half of ME2 was spent about the events/with chars in the first game. In both cases, the combat is just that annoying thing you have to do to progress the story. Like Fallout 3 and any other 'western rpg' really.

ilu.  Play Persona 3: FES if you get them first, though.  P3 is amazing storyline wise, but after playing P4, it's hard to deal with P3's combat system.

Too bad you say you don't have consoles, they're seriously some of the best games I've played in a long, long time.
