Defense of the Ancients 4.1d Changelist

[--] Bugfixes [--]
-Rift now works
-Lightning Arrows deal 100 damage per arrow instead of 350. The damage is supposed to stack.
-Fixed tooltips on several abilities and items
-Healing Ward no longer moves
-Stealth Assassin now has Fade again.
-Mannoroth's Unholy Fire is now level 1 like it should be.

[--] Heroes [--]
-Vampirlisk's armor now increases per level, 3/4/5 instead of 3/3/3.
-Eldritch of Oblivion's ultimate is now a level 7 skill.

[--] Miscellaneous [--]
-Racial Shops now have Divine Armor, to prevent tking.

Gold split doesn't work for all players. Seems to work for the first player of a team, but not for the rest. Is there plans to implement a method to allow a team to choose a hero for a guy that leaves before selecting a hero?

We can usually play 4v5 just as effectively so long as we can get the gold and control of the 5th hero. Seems that the gold split doesn't work all the time, and that there isn't a way to get a 5th hero if you only have 4 players at the start.

Am I posting this under the wrong topic?

Also it the Nymph's Tranq aura supposed to affect every single allied unit on the board? Is the ability supposed to act as a free ROR for the entire sent team? Does the Cota's rage aura work on the entire scourge team in the same fashion? Was the vamp intended to be nigh unkillable? And why are the combination items space and money savers?

an item example: two mages rings. Each mages ring requires a socket ring and a sobi mask. The mages ring yields 1hp/sec regen 75% mana and +4 int.

For simplicity calculate the equivelent of two Mage's Rings: +2hp/sec 150% mana and +8 int.
The smallest space to get the equivelent is
ROR + 2 Robes of the Magi + Pulsar

The Ror, Robes, and Pulsar would cost 300+800+1400 = 2500 gold
The two mages rings cost 850+600 = 1450.

Why is it that the two rings, which are relatively inexpensive save you over 1k gold and 1 inventory spot?

Most of the other combinations have this sort of dilema. They save you space and a lot of money. It makes items such as the pulsar obsolete.

Is tranquility supposed to have and AOE of the entire board?

I could *maybe* see it on just all the heroes... but I just played a couple games where every hunt and dryad had the aura too. It basically gives every *unit* on NE a ROR provided you have the right hero (really discouraging if you're a veno at lvl 6 I found).

I've been out of the forums a while but I've been playing dota - got used to 3.9c and I love the runner, any chance of putting him in this version (also the heros from 3.9c)?

And yikes... Even if you don't use runner / 3.9 heros, what about the map itself? I remember from whenever it came out that they did an overhaul on the coding and it's pretty obvious when you compare the map size of

3.9c - 575kb
4.1d - 6,685kb

Is the map layout (which I like) + new items really that much bigger (11.63x)?

*And please don't tell me it's based off of 3.7 which is "oldschool" and therefore better - I've played it plenty and I'm indifferent.

And thanks for doing something about the sleeping creeps... not sure which is better - invisible and aggressive or visible and awake.

With the latter you can see them before they pounce on you - but maybe not having that is part of the fun.

Edit: Visible and awake? I guess visible and asleep like (almost) every other creep would work too...

Actually there are a lot of new skins. That's why the map size changed drastically.

I do like the new skins. The map doesn't take that long to load, so I guess it's a reasonable trade off. Will there be a topic dedicated to balance issues? should we start one? is any further dev. planned for this map? if so, who will be heading up that endeavor? if not, is anyone up for contributing to continuing the maps evolution?
